Doctor Who Tapestry - November Update

It feels as though I've had a lot less time to spend on the stitch work this month. Continuing to work backwards through the classic era, I've now reached Delta and the Bannermen. I've also reached the top of this canvas so the top of Gavrock's head will be stitched in across the join with the next panel that will be started some time next year.

After I finish Delta there will be just enough room for one more character to be added before I have to start joining this panel onto the main tapestry. With the size and weight of the main work that is going to be some task.

Doctor Who Tapestry - October Update

Prime Ministers come and Prime Ministers go, just glad I'm not trying to stitch the history of UK politics at the moment. So whilst we wait for the results of the next Parliamentary lottery results to come in I've updated Sylvester's first season to show the Dragon with the background completed and the prisoner the biomechanoid was guarding, the criminal Kane. However I've chosen to do Kane melting as he meets his end at the end of Dragonfire.

Gallery Pages Update - Tom Baker Years

If you look along the right panel list of pages you'll find that all Tom Baker seasons of Doctor Who now have their own gallery pages. There are a few adventures that still need representation but I'll get to them in time. (It's all relative.)

Karl Trilogy - Special Offer This Week

This week we'll be offering you the chance to download the Kindle editions of each book for just 99p each from amazon.co.uk or 99c each from amazon.com , This is a 66% discount on books 1 & 2 and a 75% discount on book 3.

Karl's story began as a back story for a RPG character I played back in the late 1980s. 80,000 words later and I had only just scratched the surface of Karl's origin. This original story became the ground work for book one when a whole new original world was created to set the adventure in. From that point onwards a whole new adventure was born.

Paperback copies still exist and hopefully we'll be able to offer the last few sets online shortly.

Doctor Who Tapestry - September Update

Having completed the Dragon from Dragonfire last month I did start work on a melting Kane to complement the biomechanoid, but knowing I was going to be out and about a bit I decided on tackling the background area instead as I wouldn't need to carry so much around.

For the background on this panel I'm using Twilley's wool which I'm splitting down and blending two different colours, usually a lighter and darker to get a mottled effect. It's also the same technique I use when stitching chain-mail or the crushed velvet of Helen A's top.

Doctor Who Tapestry - Off the hoop

So today I had to take the hoop that holds the aida taught whilst working in order to make another repair to the hoop, which has been seen better days. It's more designed for cross-stitch rather than tapestry, I found the tapestry frame somewhat impractical as you have to stitch the whole canvas onto it, not something I could do when joining panels to the main body either. This hoop is a much thicker hoop, I've not seen any like it recently so it is a case of make-do-and-mend.

It gave me the opportunity to take a photo of the current panel, and also finish the back edging along the right hand side that will eventually become the outside edge of the main body when this is attached.

Doctor Who Tapestry - August Dragons

Quick early August update now that the Dragon has practically been completed on the tapestry and I'm moving on to tackle another from Dragonfire...
